Rod Blackhurst
Rod's first fiction feature, the post-apocalyptic dramatic thriller HERE ALONE, won the Audience Award for Best Narrative Film at the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival. Vertical Entertainment is releasing HERE ALONE theatrically and worldwide in early 2017. HERE ALONE was written by NORTH co-writer David Ebeltoft, and produced by myself, David and Noah Lang.
His first documentary feature, AMANDA KNOX, premiered at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival and was released worldwide on September 30th by NETFLIX. AMANDA KNOX, edited by two-time Sundance Film Festival Editing Award Winner Matt Hamachek (CARTEL LAND, IF A TREE FALLS), is a 2016 DocNYC Short List Official Selection. His short films, LIFE (2014), ALONE TIME (2013) and EARLY INNINGS (2012), have all been recognized as VIMEO STAFF PICKS. His short film, WOULD YOU (2012), starring Dave Franco and Christopher Mintz-Plasse premiered at SXSW in 2012.
His commercial work includes the 2014 rebranding of Airbnb, campaigns for Trek, Nintendo, Wilson Tennis and Mrs Meyers Clean Day. He grew up without a television in rural upstate New York, has a degree in French literature from Colgate University, toured with the band The Fray for four years, and has spent the night in every state except South Dakota.
He now lives in Brooklyn with his wife Rachel, their cat Rodeo, and their soon to be born daughter.
