Don Downie
Don Downie is an award-winning director, writer, and producer.
A native of Detroit and a self-taught filmmaker, Don directed season one of Royally, a comedic web series that won the Critics Award at the 2017 New York Television Festival.
Don's short films Le Creuset, and Pepper & The Salt Sea, have toured festivals nationally and internationally, garnering awards.
Previously, Don directed the ground-breaking web series podOpera Brooklyn, the digital pilot Exit Strategy for TeenNick, and served as cinematographer for the award-winning short Cake, directed by Anne Hu.
Selected TV credits include Saturday Night Live, The Biggest Loser, Brain Games, and Henry Ford’s Innovation Nation. Don recently served as supervising producer on the documentary digital series Go B4 It’s Gone and SRSLY Science for The Weather Channel on Facebook Watch.
Don founded the production company Small Media Extra Large in 2008, and currently has a feature film and several series in development.
He splits his time between Brooklyn and Los Angeles.
